Imagine you're in your 40's - and for most of your career you've been with one company, working your way up the ladder. Then - one day - you're told that the job you thought you'd be doing until your retirement will no longer exist.
In a few minutes we'll talk with an expert about the ways all of us can be successful in the job hunting process.
But first, we meet a man who went from the head of a purchasing and inventory department to digging ditches on a temporary job.

SO HOW DOES THE UNEMPLOYMENT SITUATION COMPARE TO THE WORK SLOWDOWN IN THE EARLY 1990S?
--
SOT GEGG
3:52:57 I'M NOT AN ECONOMIST I DON'T PRETEND TO BE ONE. It seemed at that point everyone was hurting. And at this time some sectors of the economy still seem to be looking to opening new businesses new stores they're looking to hire people its great for us.
--
track
BUT GREG DOES SEE SOME SIMILARITY BETWEEN THE EARLY 90S AND NOW - WHEN IT COMES TO MANUFACTURING JOBS.
--
SOT
3:53:48 you're seing not only the worker bees and production people but your also seeing management and other staff that are being let go…3:54:04
--
AND THERE'S ANOTHER SIGN THAT THERE MAY BE MORE PEOPLE LOOKING FOR WORK…
--
SOT GREG
3:55:12
there's an employer that comes in that has used us for years and comes in regularly uses us for a seasonal hire they're all all set this year:22 haven't been able to for ten years.3:55: 24 they haven't been able to find people to fill all their needs for the last ten years or so 3:55:28
--
AND THOSE WHO DO FIND WORK AREN'T GETTING THE KIND OF MONEY THE USED TO MAKE. GLEN'S JOB PAYED AROUND 80 THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR.
--
will you ever make that again
I'm not concerned as long as I make enuf money for my family to get by and to save for retirement that's all care about 1:08:13
